APG Leadership Style Exercise

The situation

A highly technically competent engineer joined APG from DOW six months ago.  Her work is exceptionally good.  However, she is almost always late with the work she submits and frequently misses deadlines.  Since the engineering department does not have a formal leader, the feedback she is receiving is inconsistent and not resulting in the improved timeliness.  Recently, she partnered with one of your colleagues and, true to form, she was late with submission deadlines.  Now, you are about to start a high visibility project with her where you are the lead engineer.  You have a meeting scheduled with her tomorrow.  What do you do at the meeting?

Outline four distinct and plausible responses, each representative of a different leadership style (e.g. S1, S2, etc.)  Please construct your responses such that the S1 response is the best choice for the situation.  Submit your responses.  We will review all responses and award prizes to the best answers which demonstrate the use of the Situational Leadership methodology.

You will have until Monday, May 1 to submit your responses.  We will review the entries and award a winner.  We will award as many winners as there are winning entries.  What is the prize?  Bragging rights and a $25 gift certificate to Blockbuster.
