An enhancement to the Being a Great Coach Process

Targeted Outcomes:

  • Ensure that leaders can meet certain thresholds of coaching proficiency by assessing leaders’ ability to demonstrate your organization’s coaching competencies in real-world situations.
  • Communicate and hold leaders accountable to a minimum level of proficiency in the coaching competencies.
  • Provide leaders with assessments of exceeds, meets, and needs improvement so they know where they stand against the organization’s expectations.

Number of Modules & Program Days:

  • Varies depending on the number of participants and whether your organization already has a short list of coaching competencies.
  • Typically, for a group of 20 participants, five one-week modules, two months apart.  We will provide details of the developmental process upon request.

Synopsis:

Note: This service offering is built on the platform of the Being a Great Coach Process.  Please click the link to see that description.

To paraphrase one of our VP client-leaders: “I’ve received lots of feedback and evaluation in my career, but very little coaching and instruction.  I was expected to figure things out on my own and I made a lot of mistakes that didn’t have to happen if I had been coached.”  It is one skill to provide someone feedback effectively.  It’s an entirely different skill to help a direct report see and learn what great looks like in a particular area.

Imagine the Being a Great Coach Process with 10x the rigor, reality and assessment.  This additional rigor increases the probability that participants will demonstrate the coaching competencies following the formal training. Through classroom-based training, video calls, and self-directed practice, we provide participants with every reasonable means to earn a “meets” or “exceeds” assessment—and there are no rubber stamp qualifications. Ultimately, participants need to prove that they can apply the learning.   The year-long development process culminates with a trial qualification and a final assessment.  A graduation event celebrates participants who earn qualified coaching status.

This service is most relevant for:

  • Organizations that want to implement a more toothy and consequence-rich development experience to bring coaching competencies to life.
  • Organizations that have determined that their success hinges on their leaders’ ability to coach effectively.

Customizable to your specific outcomes:

  • This service offering requires high levels of customization.  And, because our coaches will render an assessment of exceeds, meets, needs improvement to participants, we need to dialogue with you about the implication of such assessments.
